i drink a lot of tea. almost three tea pots per day. i love specific types of tea and since we are approaching holiday season and i see tons of blog posts on cookies and sweets, i thought it's nice to know what to pair them with and also a cup of tea is always refreshing after so many sweets.:-)
- white teas
- green teas
- red teas
- black teas
the whiter the tea the more antioxidants it has and the darker the tea the more caffein it has. so this grouping is from top to button, from whiter to darker teas.
i usually start my day with a black or red tea or coffee.;-) my favorite black tea is earl grey and i also like to add some cardamon to it. you should not cook teas very long. rinse it with some hot water that the tea wakes up, then pour about two cups of hot water on each spoon of tea. let the tea cook for 40-60 seconds and not any longer. if you let the tea cook too long it gets bitter and looses it's taste. my favorite red tea is rooibos tea. it's a south african herbal tea which is common to drink it there with lemon and sugar but i rather drink it with some milk and not sweetened. i also like to add some vanilla in it to make it even tastier in winter to serve with sweets.
in the afternoon i rather drink green teas. i don't want to caffeinate myself as much as in the morning but i still need my brain to be awake. my favorite green tea is jasmin green tea. i love the taste and the aroma. at night usually i drink very mild teas such as flower teas. one of my favorite is persian rose tea. it is calming, relaxing and it helps me to sleep better. it also have a great aroma that you don't need to sweeten them and it keeps you healthy. i also like eastern beauty which is a white hand made blossom that opens while you pour hot water on it. additionally i drink tea when i have an upset stomach or when i am not feeling well. the best tea when i am sick is salvia flower. i also mix it with some fresh ginger and honey to make it more pleasant and helpful for my flu. when i have digestion problems, the best is peppermint tea especially if you mix it with fresh mint leaves. i also use camomile tea when i have an upset stomach. after eating too much meat or fatty food lychee black tea is also helpful but i don't recommend drinking that at night. hope you enjoy a cup of tea with your christmas cookies or afterwards to calm your stomach. if you are as lucky as me, you may get a tea tower from your cousin.:-)
